“The Symbols may very well be Colorado’s next band to watch.”
-Tim Wenger, Colorado Music Buzz Magazine

"At no point do their EPs feel bogged down by self-awareness or the obligation to be serious. The end product goes down easy without feeling trite."

-Connor Hooley, Scene Magazine

"vocals fall somewhere between Bonnie Raitt and Joni Mitchell"

-Dusty Ray, Scene Magazine

Sounds Like: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Gwen Stefani, Fleetwood Mac, Chris Duarte, Phil Brown Music, Imogen Heap with Jeff Beck

The Symbols are:

Mer Sal- loco vocals, crazy keys, bass

Jasco- guitar pyrotechnics

Ryan Sapp- drums, percussion

Mer Sal and Jasco started The Symbols in July of 2010 with an intention to spread the happiness they found together to others. The Symbols want to use their talent and creative energy to influence positive change.

The Symbols will be playing at the Lincoln Center on June 29th as part of an upcoming event called Women Rock the Night that will feature several local and regional influential women of rock. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to Crossroads Safehouse.

In addition to this, The Symbols have been donating 25% of CD sales to the Michael Raymond Olson MS Fund. To find the weblink to the fund please visit http://www.thesymbols.net/theplot

Guitarist, Jasco began his life as a mathematician-scientist and then completely shifted at the age of 12 when he discovered the electric guitar. You might still call him a scientist. He has studied and performed shows with many guitar greats, among these, multi-talented Dave Beegle, funky and mysterious Chris Duarte, flamenco player Renee Heredia, popular guitarist Paul Gilbert, flamenco player Renee Heredia, and guitar idol Phil Brown. Jasco has changed his style every five years since he began playing. His history encapsulates shred-master, classical guitar wiz, national blues star, flamenco man, Django gypsy-jazz man, and the Jeff Beck discipline. In addition to wearing red converse all the time, he carries four books with him at any time-- Zen Guitar, On Practicing, Effortless Mastery, and Drizzt. His favorite snack is a peanut butter and honey taco.

Fort Collins' greatest poet has been performing onstage since the tender age of 3, and has a handful of songwriting years under her belt. Mer Sal is both a natural and a studied musician. She is a strong survivor. Her past is riddled with mean ex-boyfriends, a tour bus crash, benign childhood epilepsy, drug addiction recovery, emotional abuse, rejection, and true love. After being told a long time ago not to speak everything she thinks, she has been writing songs for over 10 years now, and is still evolving. Mer Sal runs on Argentine time, so forgive her for being an hour flexible with your time. There's hardly a soul she doesn't like.
